Yemi Adeola

Yemi Adeola was the Managing Director of Sterling Bank Plc for 10 years (2008- 2018). Prior to Banking, his career traversed the Classroom, Legal Practice, Corporate and Tax Consultancy, Arbitration and Board Governance. He lectured Contract and Company Law in two Nigerian Universities, namely; University of Benin and Lagos State University. He was a Consultant in Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) where he rendered Tax, Legal and Corporate Advisory Services. He was Chief Legal Counsel and Company Secretary at Citibank Nigeria (1988-1998). He was the first Nigerian Executive Director to oversee the commercial banking business of Citibank, Nigeria. He also had a stint in the Corporate Banking and Infrastructure Department of the bank. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). He chaired the Ethics Sub-Committee of the Bankers Committee for many years. He is a member of the CIBN Disciplinary Tribunal, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration (United Kingdom and Nigeria). He chairs the Board of Baobank Bank (the French Bank). He is on the Board of Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company (NMRC). He has undertaken Senior Management/Executive education programmes covering business and leadership areas at leading institutions including, among others; Harvard Business School, Stanford Business School, Oxford University and Wharton Business School. He is a JFK Scholar.

Abimbola Izu

Abimbola Izu is a highly cerebral and versatile professional with multi - dimensional competencies in various fields in the legal and financial services sectors. She was a multiple award winner at the University of Ife, the Nigerian Law School and was a Foreign and Commonwealth Office Scholar at the University of Warwick England. Abimbola distinguished herself as a core commercial and litigation lawyer, with over 30 years’ cognate experience in private legal practice and the banking industry in leading law firms. She has over 15 years’ banking industry experience spanning Diamond Bank, Bond Bank and Skye Bank, in various capacities including Company Secretary / Legal Adviser and Directorate Head in charge of Administrative and General Services, Human Resources and Strategic Brand Management. In that capacity, she anchored the development of very successful brand assets such as the timeless “I Wish”, the legendary “Hakuna Matata” and the contemporary “Skye High” brand assets (amongst others), for Skye Bank. She subsequently became Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Skye Bank, responsible for a portfolio of over N600bn across the Oil and Gas, Large Corporates, Telecommunications, Hospitality, Power, Agriculture, Aviation and Maritime Services, Real Estate and Construction sectors. She was appointed by the CBN as a member of the intervention Board of Skye Bank, from where she retired voluntarily in 2017.

Abimbola is reputed to have a very keen and cerebral mind, with a deep understanding of the law, and the ability to structure difficult transactions. She has advised on over 60 significant local and cross border infrastructure and project finance, ICT, real estate financing, oil and gas, telecoms, power and corporate finance transactions, including developing an ingenious industry template for share restructuring, (in spite of limitations in the law), and a landmark Western Union Future Flows Remittance Financing transaction (the first of its kind in Africa). Abimbola also has a deep understanding of relevant regulatory regimes and corporate governance requirements, having served in the capacity of Company Secretary and Legal Adviser to several boards for over 15 years, and in the process, gained first-hand experience of the “what to do” and “what not to do” for sound corporate governance.   She’s currently a Partner with Portalls Advisory Services, a firm of legal and corporate governance consultants. She’s happily married with children.

Nkechi Nwosu

Nkechi Nwosu is a corporate lawyer, general counsel and company secretariat expert, with over 30 years experience in the financial services sector(banking and finance) She is an accomplished senior executive with over 37 years of consistent achievement while serving as an instrumental member and advisor to executive management, implementing strategic business growth initiatives, building strong board relations spanning Anglophone and Francophone countries and the UK, creating powerful internal and external alliances and overseeing all aspects of corporate governance and the corporate legal function. Nkechi is a member of the Inner Temple Society having being called to the English Bar. She is also a Solicitor and Advocate of Nigeria. She has worked in senior roles at leading financial insititutions in Nigeria with subsidiaries in the Francophone West African countries and the United Kingdom. She was the General Counsel/Corporate Secretary of Diamond Bank Plc where she provided internal functional legal expertise and participated in various capital raising activities.

She had oversight responsibility for the Bank’s legal and Company Secretariat functions of the Bank’s subsidiaries including those of its Insurance subsidiary ADIC Insurance. She is an experienced Administrator having supervised at various times the Bank’s Administration as well as Corporate Communications Departments. She supervised the Banks aggressive Branch Development and launched Diamond Bank’s new brand identity in 2005 and brand refresh in 2012 in conjunction with foreign and local brand consultants. Nkechi has a wealth of Board experience from the perspective of the Board Secretary and from serving on Boards including Diamond Bank SA, where she chaired the Board Governance and Personnel Committee and as a non executive director Diamond Securities Limited, and Arrive Alive as an alternate director on Arrive Alive an NGO set up by Chevron and a few Nigerian Banks to prevent road accidents. She is passionate about Corporate Governance and was instrumental in producing a best in class corporate governance manual which became a reference point in the industry. She is currently the Managing Partner of Storrington and Steyning. Nkechi is a British-Nigerian Citizen, she was educated extensively in England.

Angela Omo - Dare

Angela Omo - Dare LLB, BL, LLM graduated from the University of Ife with a second class upper in Law  in 1979. 

She was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1980 and obtained a masters degree in law from the London School of Economics in 1983  . After two years in practice she  moved into the banking industry. In 1989,  she became the Company Secretary & Legal Adviser of Investment Banking & Trust Company Limited (IBTC). She  remained with that organization for over 30 years as it transitioned to a universal bank, consolidated with two other banks to become IBTC Chartered Bank PLC and then became  part of the Standard Bank Group of South Africa via a merger and tender offer in 2007 that led to the creation of Stanbic IBTC Bank PLC. 

Angela  retired in August 2019 as Head, Country Legal Services , Stanbic IBTC Holdings Limited, a financial services holding company with an interest in  companies  that operate in the banking,  insurance, asset management, pension administration and trustee  sectors. 

Angela was a Director of Stanbic IBTC Asset Management Limited and Stanbic IBTC Trustees Limited until she retired in 2019 . 

Since her retirement she has cut back on work activities although she still provides  advisory services  and is a director of a number of non - financial sector companies.

Alhaji Tijjani M. Borodo

Alhaji Tijjani M. Borodo was the pioneer Company Secretary of FBN Holdings Plc (FBN Holdings) who oversaw the process of admitting FBN Holdings to the Premium Board of the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2015. He retired from FBN Holdings in October 2017 after a successful career spanning over 29 years with the Group.
He holds a law degree from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a B.L (Barrister at Law) from the Nigerian Law School, Nigeria and a master’s in law degree from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
He is a Fellow, Institute of Directors, Nigeria, the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria; and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, Nigeria. He is a Member, International Bar Association, Nigerian Bar Association, and an Honorary Senior Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
In October 2017, he was given a lifetime achievement award for his contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria by the Esq Magazine.
In January 2018, he was appointed a member of the Technical Committee that drafted the Financial Reporting Council’s Nigerian Code of Corporate Governance 2018.
He is currently the Principal Partner of Tijjani M. Borodo & Associates, a top tier law firm with offices at Lagos and Abuja.
